Remove the bandage approximately 3-6 hours after the completion of your tattoo session.
Proceed to thoroughly wash your tattoo, in a clean environment, with the hottest water you are able to handle. It is fine to gradually increase the heat of the water. While washing the skin in hot water, use a circular motion, with clean hands, to help gently remove any remaining plasma/blood/ink from the surface of the tattooed area. DO NOT use a cloth or loofa or scrubbing sponge.
When the skin is clear of residue, gently pat it dry, with a clean towel, and leave it to air dry and begin healing
Do not apply any moisturizers/creams etc. for a minimum of 5-7 days after the bandage removal, this will allow the body to begin healing naturally. If you feel the need for moisturizer after this initial healing period, we recommend a perfume free, dye free lotion or ointment. Make sure to only apply very thin layers if you use a cream. do not slather and suffocate your tattoo.
Make sure to avoid hot tubs, swimming pools/swimming, sauna’s and other various dirty or moist environments until it is completely healed, and the last of any scabbing or peeling has finished; usually about two weeks for most people. Sunlight and UV exposure will age your tattoo and cause the colors to fade. This also applies to tanning beds. It is normal for a healing tattoo to become very itchy, flaky and/or scabby. Do not pick or scratch your healing tattoo. This can lead to the ink being pulled out with any scabbing that may accidentally be scratched off. If any of the color pops out due to scabbing or intense healing, free touch ups are available within the first year after tattoo completion, as long as the proper healing routine has been followed. If there is evidence of negligence during the healing process, on the client’s part, touch ups will not be guaranteed. If you have any questions or concerns during your healing, please do not hesitate to contact me.
24-48 hours after your tattoo appointment, remove the Saniderm bandage. It is best to slowly peel the bandage off under warm running water in a clean space.
using only your hand, wash your tattoo with clean, mild, unscented soap. DO NOT use a cloth, loofa, or sponge.
Gently rub off any residue until the skin feels smooth and clean.
Lightly pat your tattoo dry with a clean towel, DO NOT rub it. let the skin sit/rest in a clean open space for 20 to 30 minutes.
Now that the tattoo is clean and dry, apply the second, fresh Saniderm bandage, making sure there is at least 1 cm of bandage, like a border, extending past the edges of the tattoo.
Try to keep the second bandage on for 5-7 days. Peeling edges may been trimmed if necessary.
After the removal of the second bandage, wash and dry the skin again, the same way the tattoo was cleansed after the initial bandage removal.
At this point, feel free to moisturize the tattoo with mild unscented lotion. Apply thin layers and do not suffocate the skin.
